Helen Roe Welsh, 99, formerly of Waterville, Ohio passed away on May 12, 2014 at her daughter’s home in
Powhatan, VA.
The third daughter of nine children, she was born May 3, 1915 to the late George and Flossie Roe, Sr. in
Weston, Ohio.
She graduated from Weston High School in 1933 and attended Bowling Green State University for two years
completing a secretarial degree.
She married Dennis E. Welsh August 31, 1940 and resided in Waterville for over 25 years. Dennis preceded
her in death on December 12, 1982.
She was employed at the Wood County Court House, City Loan and the State of Ohio Bureau of Employment
Services, where she retired.
She was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church and the Greenwood Chapter O.E.S., Bowling
Green, Ohio.
She was an avid gardener growing flowers and vegetables. She was a garden club member, 4-H leader,
enjoyed the beach, music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Margaret (Dale) Heyman, June
(Douglas) McKnight, Dorothy (Elba) Harvey, Jean (Eddie) Steuer, Mary Ann (William) Cary, Nancy (Boyd)
Case and brothers, Loren (Ida Mae) Roe and George (Vera) Roe Jr.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie (Welsh) and Dave Botkin and numerous nieces and
nephews.
The family will receive friends at DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 408 West Wooster St, Bowling Green, Ohio on Monday,
May 19th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel of the DUNN FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, May 20th at
11 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service from 10 a.m. until service time.
Burial with be in the Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville, Ohio at 2 p.m.
