Duane E. "Duke" Betz, 87, of Weston, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014. He was born on
May 28, 1927 to Cash and Crystal (Older) Betz. He married Peggy Stretchbery on February 24, 1948 and she
survives.
Duke was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was active in the American Legion in Weston.
He played, coached and umpired both softball and baseball.
He also enjoyed annual fishing trips to Bright Lake in Canada as well as bowling, golf, and especially
spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Maggie (Tom) Ladd of White Bluff, TN., Mike (Amy)
Betz of Weston, and Mindy (Tom) Harman of McClure, grandchildren, Tommy (Cherie) Ladd, White Bluff,
Michael (Allison) Betz of Portage, Sarah (Dennis) Zeigler of Bloomdale, Tasha (Mark) Small of Archbold
and Levi Harman of McClure.
He also leaves ten Great-grandchildren, a great, great-grandson, Bently, one sister, Neva (Leon) Studer,
his step-mother, Janet Perkins, half-sisters Sandy Walters and Candy Desgrange, good friends, Charles
Roe and Bill Baker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by infant daughter, Linda,
granddaughter, Wendy Kelly and brother, Bob Betz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 21st at 12:00 noon in the chapel at DUNN
FUNERAL HOME, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
Visitation is from 10am to service time. Interment will follow at Wood County Memory Gardens where the
Wood County Honor Detail will conduct Military services.
The family request memorial contributions be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
