C. Richard Marsh, age 85, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 at Hospice of
Northwest Ohio. Dick won his battle with cancer every day for several years.
He was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on December 6, 1928 to Clarence C. and Lois (Carlisle) Marsh.
Dick grew up in Bowling Green, living part of his childhood in the former Wood County Jail, during the
years his father served as Sheriff. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and The University
of Cincinnati College of Law.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
Thereafter, he served as General Counsel for North American Van Lines, and as an Ohio Assistant Attorney
General under William Saxbe. He returned to Bowling Green to practice law and soon thereafter formed a
partnership with his lifelong friend Pat Crowley under the firm name Marsh and Crowley. In 1984 he
continued his practice with his son Michael under the firm Marsh and Marsh.
In addition to his private practice, Dick served many years as General Counsel for Bowling Green State
University, and was the elected City Attorney for the City of Bowling Green from 1964 to 1973, serving
five two-year terms.
Dick was a lifelong BGSU Falcon fan, and was one of the organizers and a founding member of the Falcon
Club. He also served the University on its Foundation Board as well as the Alumni Board of Trustees, and
was awarded the BGSU Alumni Service Award in 1971.
Dick never completely retired, but enjoyed semi-retirement while meeting with friends and clients as
recently as January of this year. In 1995, the Wood County Commissioners honored him with the Spirit of
Wood County Award.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, a generous man with a kind heart and a great sense of
humor. He loved spending his summers on Lake Erie with his family and his winters golfing in Naples,
Florida. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou (Sherer) Marsh; his sister, Nancy Worden of
Alexandria, VA; daughters Beth Bils, Julie Marsh, Melissa (Buzz) Weinert, Becky (Chris) Dill; and son
Michael (Terri) Marsh, all of Bowling Green; as well as 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, by his sister Phyllis Jean Dodge, and his great-granddaughter
Veronica Marsh.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas
More Catholic Church, 425 Thurstin Avenue in Bowling Green.
The family will receive guests at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the Mass time.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DUNN FUNERAL HOME, located in the Historical District of Bowling
Green at 408 W. Wooster St.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Wood County Cancer Society, the Bowling
Green Community Foundation or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
