Betty R. Asmus, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Heritage Health Care Campus of Bowling
Green, Ohio where she has been a resident.
She was born to the late Alfred and Clara (Young) Joseph on April 5, 1923 in Wood County, Ohio. On March
8, 1947, she married her beloved husband Clifford M. Asmus at Hope Lutheran Church. He preceded her in
death on February 11, 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Deyo, Donald, George, Victor, Lloyd and
Ronald Joseph; and sisters, Ada Wilt and Donna Nichelson.
Surviving are a son, Gary (Barbara), Bowling Green and two daughters, Diane (Beryl) Hemminger, North
Baltimore and Debra (David) Helm of Pemberville; five grandchildren, Kelly (Will) McCartney, Kim
(Roscoe) Graham, Matthew (Brandi) Asmus, Lindsay and Emily Helm; and four great-grandchildren, Mia,
Camden and Emerson McCartney and Madisyn Asmus. Also surviving are her sister, Helen (Victor) Woelke and
sister-in-law, Mary Lou Joseph.
Betty’s greatest loves were her home and family. During her life she spent much time caring for others.
She loved being a farmer’s wife, where she and her husband were a true example of partnership and
loyalty; you very seldom saw one without the other.
She was an avid gardener and received several awards for the beautiful flowers that she took pride in.
Betty also enjoyed canning and preserving all the fruits and vegetables she grew in her gardens. In
addition, she was an excellent seamstress and loved sewing with her sisters and for her family.
Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Haskins, where through the years she volunteered her time
teaching Sunday School, helping with Bible School, singing in the choir, and serving on the visitation
team and Altar Guild.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME
& CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio.
Additional visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral
service at 11 a.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME REMEMBRANCE CHAPEL.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

their wonderful care.
