Trail maintenance, garlic mustard removal, stroll among park events

• Bluebird Trail Maintenance, 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. tonight, Cedar Creeks Preserve, 4575 Walbridge Road,
Northwood – Join a newly-formed group of volunteers to help naturalist staff maintain paths for bluebird
nest box monitoring. Bring work gloves and dress for the weather. Loppers, pruners and other equipment
will be provided.
• Garlic Mustard Removal, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wood County Historical Center, 13660 County Home Road,
Bowling Green – Help improve wildlife habitats by fighting one of the most invasive species in our area.
Dress to work outdoors. All tools will be provided, and no experience is necessary.
• Wildflower Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cedar Creeks Preserve, 4575 Walbridge Road,
Northwood – Wildflowers are back, and there’s nothing like colorful spring blooms to warm up after a
long, cold winter. Look for trillium, lupine, columbine and more.
• Garlic Mustard Removal, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Otsego Park, 20000 West River Road, Bowling Green – Help
improve wildlife habitats by fighting one of the most invasive species in our area. Dress to work
outdoors. All tools will be provided, and no experience is necessary.
• Early Migrants at the Lakeshore, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, depart from W.W. Knight Nature Preserve,
29530 White Road, Perrysburg – Some of the first representatives of the warbler species arrive at Magee
Marsh Wildlife Area near Oak Harbor in late April. Be there to greet them as they return to their
favorite refueling spot before continuing to their nesting grounds. The group will travel to Magee Marsh
in the park district bus. Bring a packed lunch to eat. Cost $5, or $3 for Friends members.
• Living Green at Home, 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 30, Reuthinger Preserve, 30730 Oregon Road, Perrysburg –
Learn how to save energy and money by doing simple things around your home to live a little greener,
including alternative energy, recycling methods and natural landscaping. At the end of the program,
green energy prizes will be given away.
• Native Nursery Nights, 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 1, Reuthinger Preserve, 30730 Oregon Road, Perrysburg – Join
volunteers on Thursday nights this summer at the native plant nursery and greenhouse. Volunteers may be
asked to plant, water, weed and collect seed. Dress to work outdoors, and bring gloves if you have them.

• Join Hands Day, 10 a.m. until noon, May 3, Wood County Historical Center, 13660 County Home Road,
Bowling Green – Help improve wildlife habitats and beautify your parks on this national day of service.
Volunteers may be working outside, so dress accordingly.
• Sunday Stroll, 2 to 3 p.m. May 4, Cedar Creeks Preserve, 4575 Walbridge Road, Northwood – Enjoy a
leisurely stroll through the preserve in search of wildflowers and wildlife.
