Registration ends Friday for Black Swamp Educators Extravaganza

"Raising the Standards" is the theme of the 2014 Black Swamp Educators Extravaganza.
The focus will include energy and the environment for the event, held June 17-19, at Ottawa National
Wildlife Refuge and Kellys Island.
The extravaganza is a cooperative effort of the northwest Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Districts
including Defiance, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, Williams, and Wood counties.
The June 17 guest speaker will be Rhonda Reda, executive director of the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy
Education Program. That day will also include a visit to the Castallia Quarry Reserve.
Highlights on June 18 will include "Green Ribbon – The Oak Openings in the Classroom," with
lesson plans and resources on the Oak Openings Region Green Ribbon Initiative website. Project Learning
Tree modules Focus on Risk, Energy and Society, and Places We Live are all classroom ready curricula
ready for the classroom. Participants will each receive these resources.
June 18 will be on Kelleys Island with an aquatic theme. Participants will learn more about Aquatic WILD.

The cost for all three days is $120. Participants may choose to participate on single days at a cost of
$60 per day. Registration deadline is Friday.
