Rainbow Co-op fundraiser Feb. 28 in BG

There’s already a pot of gold at the end of this Rainbow fundraiser.
Tickets for the Feb. 28 "Roll a Rainbow" bowling event at Al-Mar Lanes have sold out. The
bowling and other activities will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Supporters can still buy general admission-non bowling-silent auction tickets for $10 per person.
Proceeds benefit Rainbow Cooperative Preschool, which has been struggling financially.
The school aims for 50 children enrolled but has been in the 30s the last two years. Tuition is $950 a
year or $633 a year, depending on the age of the 3 to 5 year old and how many days are attended.
"I would like to see it (the school) be around. It’s a great place," said Stephanie Good, who
is chairing the committee organizing the fundraiser and has a 4-year-old son enrolled at Rainbow.
A cooperative preschool is owned and operated by the parents. At this type of school, parents work in the
classroom with the teacher, raise funds for operations, serve on committees such as field trip and
equipment maintenance, and even clean the West Wooster Street building.
The experience is worth every bit of extra work and dollars, Good said.
"If you want to be a part of your child’s education, you want to be involved, I don’t know of any
schools in the area that offer that."
This is an event that the whole family can attend, Good said.
A card deck raffle – with just 52 chances to win – will be held for two trips, to Disneyland and the
Verandah Resort and Spa in Antigua.
Among auction items are Ben Franklin, art-a-site, Toledo Walleye, Toledo Mud Hens, Summer Kitchen
Interiors, Donatos Pizza, Sauder Village, the Cleveland Bowns, Great Wolf Lodge, Armstrong Air and Space
Museum, Pursecase, the Wilds and COSI.
