A Pemberville man pleaded guilty Friday to a charge stemming from a November incident involving a knife
in Bowling Green.
Christopher Bell, 26, pleaded to an amended charge of assault, a fourth-degree felony, before Wood County
Judge Reeve Kelsey.
Bell had initially been indicted on one count of felonious assault and one count of assault. The
felonious assault count is to be dropped at sentencing as part of a plea agreement.
The charge stemmed from a Nov. 13, 2013, incident on North Main Street in which Bell reportedly accosted
another man outside of a downtown business and pulled a knife on him. The victim grabbed the knife and
was cut on the finger. He refused medical attention.
After a struggle, Bell fled the scene and was captured by police.
He was subsequently tased because he was reportedly combative and attempted to spit on officers.
Bell’s sentencing is set for May 12 at 10:30 a.m.
