Park district offers kids crafts, greenhouse day, woodcocks hike, pie day

• PiPs: Scoop on Poop, 10 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, Friends’ Green Room, 29530
White Road, Perrysburg – For children 3-6 years of age. Participants will enjoy a short story and a
craft. Adult companions must remain with children for this program.
• Woody Plant Removal Volunteer Opportunity, 10 a.m. to noon March 8, William Henry Harrison Park, 644
Bierley Ave., Pemberville – Help improve wildlife habitat by removing unwanted woody plants. Dress to
work outdoors and bring gloves if you have them. No experience necessary.
• Pie Day greenhouse help volunteer opportunity, 1 to 3 p.m. March 14, Reuthinger Preserve, 30730 Oregon
Road, Perrysburg – Help grow plants on Pie Day at the Native Nursery and Greenhouse. Volunteers may be
asked to perform a variety of functions such as transplanting seedlings, filling pots or watering
plants. No experience necessary. Enjoy a piece of pie following the program.
• Greenhouse Kids: Go Green, 10 to 11 a.m. March 15, Reuthinger Preserve Greenhouse, 30730 Oregon Road,
Perrysburg – Plant something for wildlife and yourself. Each child will sow a vegetable and flowering
plant seed to take home in a biodegradable or recyclable pot. Afterwards, tour the stewardship
greenhouse to see native plants already in bloom.
• Woodcocks Dancin’ in the Moonlight, 7 to 8:15 p.m. March 16, Baldwin Woods Preserve, 14080 Range Line
Road, Weston – These funny looking birds just can’t wait to start their spring courtship displays, and
what a delightful show it is. Known for their odd song and daring flight, we have the extra treat of a
full moon spotlight. Come at 7 p.m. for a short hike in the woods and some interesting woodcock facts.
The dance begins at 7:45 p.m., about sunset. Meet on Euler Road, one-third of one mile east of Range
Line Road.
