"You are what you eat," is a familiar saying. While it is true that the food we eat
becomes part of our bodies, Scott Ritsema, a Bible teacher, author, and speaker, wants people to be
aware that what they watch and listen to is also changing them.On Saturday, beginning at 10:50 a.m.,
Ritsema will present "Media on the Brain," a free seminar that will be held at the Adventist
Church, 331 S. Enterprise Street in Bowling Green.Ritsema says, "The average preschool child is
viewing 32 hours of television per week. The average 8-18-year old: five hours per day. There are 5
million Americans playing 40 hours of video games per week. And 19 million Americans are addicted to
video gaming, according to the American Medical Association.The speaker notes, "There’s no doubt;
we have completely immersed ourselves in a counterfeit reality of constant media and entertainment. But
what does the latest science say about the mind-altering effects of 21st century media? And what is the
spiritual agenda in the entertainment industry?"During the seminar, Ritsema will show numerous
media clips, quote current research findings, share his personal experiences, provide an opportunity for
questions, and more.At Saturday’s free seminar, a lunch between morning and afternoon sessions will be
provided at no cost.For more information, call April Kurtz at 419-575-6450, or visit www.bgsda.org.
