Planning starts Tuesday for Tontogany Fest

Sustainable farming is Exchange topic
Don Schooner of Schooner Farms will talk about the sustainable non-conventional farming operation that he
and his wife, Becky, own at the Exchange Club meeting Tuesday at noon at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
A strong advocate for land stewardship and conservation, wildlife management and environmental issues,
Schooner will talk about the various activities conducted on their 20-acre farm near Weston. Those
activities include growing and selling berries, harvesting raw homey from 10 beehives, and operating a
Community Supported Agriculture garden, which produces food for 30 area families.

Bowling Green’s Planning Department has dedicated a portion of its website to information regarding the
Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Steering Committee.

Planning Director Heather Sayler told city council Monday night the information is intended to involve
residents in the effort.
She said a public hearing is being planned for April but the date has not been determined.

Mandel gives BG employee inaugural ‘Ohio Strong’ award
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel will visit Phoenix Technologies International, 1098 Fairview Ave., on Monday
at 1 p.m.
Mandel will launch a new effort called “Ohio Strong” to help recognize local workers in manufacturing and
the skilled trades, and raise public awareness to encourage more people to pursue careers in these
fields.
Because of Bowling Green’s history in the skilled trades, Mandel will present an employee at Phoenix
Technologies International with an inaugural “Ohio Strong” award.
