Robyn Moellenberg and Larry
Smith were installed as the presiding officers of Greenwood Chapter Order of Eastern Star for 2014 during a
Nov. 12 open installation ceremony.Serving as the installing officer was Karen Schwab, a past matron of
Greenwood. Assisting were Marsha Kujawa, worthy matron of Lillian Chapter, Montpelier; Karen Ruscoe, worthy
matron of Triune Chapter, Waterville; and Mark Murphy, a past patron of Yondota Chapter, Toledo.The antique
gold gowns worn by the women had scalloped necklines and intricate beadwork at the waist. The men wore
tuxedo attire with antique gold bow ties.The theme for the year is “Your Key to the Great American Road
Trip”; colors are red, yellow, and green representing traffic lights; flower is the wildflowers growing
along roadsides, and the scripture is I Corinthians 13:7.The podium was decorated with fabric depicting
sights one sees while driving along Route 66, and the OES Bible given to Moellenberg’s grandmother when she
became an Eastern Star.The chapter presented floral arrangements to the 2013 worthy matron, Denise Zephier,
as she went out of office and to Moellenberg as she was installed. Zephier and William Mandlebaum, 2013
worthy patron, received monetary chapter gifts for their year of service.Throughout the year Moellenberg
said she would have the chapter visiting all 50 states. The road trip began with some history of Bowling
Green.The reception was served by the men’s Century Club to 44 members and visitors. Food items were
provided by the officers to represent various states such as New York cheesecake, Georgia pecan pie, Texas
sheet cake, Hawaiian pineapple, Ohio buckeyes, and more. Each dining table held a road map topped with a
strip of black ribbon representing our roadways. Each ribbon held one or two automobiles and trees were
scattered across the map.
