Applications for 2014 dog registrations in Wood County may be filed beginning Dec. 2.Ohio law
requires owners to register dogs three months of age or older by Jan. 31. Required information includes age,
sex, color, length of hair, whether spayed or neutered, breed, and the name, address and telephone number of
the owner, along with a $14 registration fee.As a convenience, the Wood County Auditor’s Office mails
renewal forms to owners on record. Those who registered online in 2013 will instead receive an
email.Residents have new options for purchasing licenses this year that allows them to be issued for either
three years or the lifetime of the dog, as well as the standard one-year period. Costs are $14 for one year,
$42 for three years and $140 for a permanent license. No refunds will be issued.Kennel owners are also
required to register each year and pay a $70 fee. Ohio law provides that the penalty after Jan. 31 is the
amount equal to the registration fee for each type of license; therefore $14 for regular licenses and $70
for kennel licenses, in addition to the regular registration fee.Those acquiring dogs after Jan. 31 have 30
days after acquisition or the date that the dog reaches three months of age to register.Registration may be
filed by mail, in person or online. When mailing the application, include the license fee, dog information
as stated above and a self-addressed stamped envelope for return of the license. Licenses can be purchased
at the auditor’s office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the Wood County Dog
Shelter. Online applications can be made at http://dogtags.co.wood.oh.us/ and require an additional $2 fee
per license. Do not send cash with mail-in applications.In addition, the Wood County Board of Health now
requires all dogs be immunized against rabies. Provide rabies information in the application.Call
