Second ‘Almost Summer’ Friday
Chuck and Tina Thomas, with the support of Nazareth Hall, will sponsor the second annual “It’s Almost
Summer Time Benefit/Bash” Friday.
All proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because “Someday Is Today!”
Chuck was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in 2009 and is now in remission.
The event runs from 7 p.m. to midnight at Nazareth Hall. For a $15 donation, there will be music by
Bliss, Five O’Clock Rush and The Grape Smugglers, along with a light snack buffet. There will also be a
cash bar.
Those unable to attend can make a donation via check payable to LLS to the First Presbyterian Church,
17770 Beaver St., Grand Rapids, OH 43522.

Friday fish fry at Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS — Hosanna Lutheran Church, 23019 Kellogg Road, will hold a fish fry Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Fish, baked potatoes, cole slaw, roll, and coffee or water for $9 for adults and $5 for children.
There is also a silent auction going on during this fish fry. The auction will end at 6:30. A gift
package from Mud Hens, gift cards from Kroger, Meijer, Miss Lily’s and El Zarape are some of the silent
auction items. Many homemade craft and food items are in the auction as well.

Lions fundraiser Wed. in BG
The BG Evening Lions are holding a fund raiser at the East Wooster Street McDonald’s from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday.
Funds raised will help provide BG families with vision services such as eye exams and glasses, free
pre-school vision screening and community needs.
Heritage egg hunt April 5
Heritage Corner Health Care Campus will hold its fifth annual Easter Egg Hunt April 5 at 2 p.m.
The event will be held in the Dolores A. Black Gymnasium at the Bowling Green Community Center, 1245 W.
Newton Road.
Children ages 8 and under may participate.
The Easter Bunny and Ronald McDonald will make guest appearances and refreshments and cookies will be
provided.
CPR at Walbridge April 6
WALBRIDGE — An American Heart Association Family and Friends CPR course will be held at the police
department on April 6.
There will be classes at 11 a.m. and 1, 4, 6 and 8 p.m.
The class will be on hands-only CPR for adults, child CPR, adult and child AED, infant CPR, and choking
relief. There is no cost to attend. This course offers no certification and is meant for anyone who
wishes to learn CPR in case of an emergency.

Hospital update for BG Rotary
Bowling Green Rotary Club will learn “What’s New at Wood County Hospital” April 3 when President and CEO
Stan Korducki speaks.
The group meets at 11:40 a.m. at Bowling Green Country Club.
Youth baseball is Kiwanis talk
Youth baseball in Bowling Green will be featured at the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club meeting at noon April
3 at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Tim Dunn, the league president since 1982, and Vice-President Fred Riggs will present the program.
Estate event at Pemberville
PEMBERVILLE — Pemberville Public Library will host a free estate planning seminar led by Chad Huber of
Chamberlain Law Group Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Topics to be covered are the types of estate planning, the best plan for you, the costs and risks of each
plan, common mistakes to avoid and maximization of benefits.
No registration is necessary.
Humane Society benefit April 9
The Wood County Humane Society will host a fundraising event at McDonald’s, 1470 E. Wooster) St., April 9
from 5 to 7 p.m.
A percentage of sales will benefit the humane society.
Run to the Rapids April 12
The Grand Rapids Arts Council will sponsor the second annual Run to the Rapids 5K, April 12.
The run benefits the ALS Association in honor of former council president, Julie Pontasch, who was
diagnosed with the disease in July 2012.
The event raised $2,500 and attracted 125 runners in 2013. The 2014 goal is to attract over 200 runners
and donate over $4,000.

the finish line with Kathy’s Soft Scones, LaRoe’s pumpkin muffins, and other treats. Participants will
