Clean tools, sample syrup with county park district programs

Register for the following Wood County Park District programs at www.wcparks.org or by calling
419-353-1897.
• Tool Maintenance is Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reuthinger Preserve in Perrysburg. Soon now the grass
will need mowing and the shrubs pruning. Come to this hands-on program and bring tools.
• Syrup: How It’s Made is March 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Creeks Preserve in Northwood. Find out
what is going on inside maple trees in the early spring. Then search for maple trees and look for
creatures that are out and about. After returning from our trek, sample some authentic maple syrup.
• April Fools Hike is April 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carter Historic Farm, 18331 Carter Rd. Folklore,
old wives’ tales and fun is planned for in the woods and on the farm.
• A Quail Release is April 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bradner Preserve. Get an overview of the park
district’s bobwhite quail program and then watch as quail are released into their new home at the
preserve.
Volunteer opportunities:
• Garlic Mustard Removal is March 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wood County Historical Center, 13660 County
Home Road. Help improve wildlife habitat by fighting one of the worst invasive species in the area.
Dress to work outdoors. All tools will be provided and no experience is necessary.
• Plant Monitor Program Kick Off is March 31 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Park District Headquarters, 18729 Mercer
Road. The park district is launching its first Plant Monitor Program. Learn how to help the park
district by being a plant monitors. Spaces and sites are limited.

• Thank you for "bee"ing a volunteer! Volunteer Recognition Dinner is April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
at the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg. It’s National Volunteer Week and the park district
would like to thank volunteers.
There will be a light meal and program.
