LIME CITY – The next Perrysburg Township administrator will be a familiar face.
The township Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Walter Celley as
administrator to replace the retiring John Hrosko, effective Jan. 2, according
to a release issued this morning.
Celley has served as law director for the township for the past 31‚Ñ2 years.
Hrosko announced his decision to retire earlier this month as a result of changes to
benefits in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS). Trustees
received a handful of unsolicited resumes and letters of interest for the
position as well as an expression of interest from Celley.
"Although the position of law director is a requirement under the Ohio Revised
Code for home rule townships, the trustees saw an opportunity to drastically
reduce the amounts expended for legal services by appointing an administrator
with an aptitude and experience in township law as exemplified by Mr.
Celley," the release said.
Plans to search for a new law director were not discussed this morning, but are
likely to begin within the coming weeks.
Celley is a 1987 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law,
and holds a degree in agri-business from Owens Community College and a bachelor
of science degree from Bowling Green State University.
After graduating law school, he served as law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge
John Potter, and entered private practice in 1989.
