A car was destroyed and a garage was lightly damaged in a fire north of Bowling Green Thursday. The blaze was reported just after 6:15 p.m. in the 20000 block of North Dixie Highway. Middleton Township Fire Chief Steve Asmus said that the owner had just returned home from work when a neighbor called to tell him that his Pontiac was on fire. The vehicle, which became fully engulfed in flames, was parked very near the garage attached to the residence. Middleton Township and Troy Township fire departments responded. "Thankfully the garage door was closed," said Asmus. The flames damaged some of the garage's siding, but did not enter the residence. The car was deemed a total loss, but a financial estimate of damages was not available. No injuries were reported. A cause is still undetermined in the fire, but Asmus said the blaze appeared to originate in the vehicle's engine compartment. |
