A Bradner man remained in critical condition this morning following a Monday crash in Sandusky County
west of the city.
Jacob Hutson, 19, was listed in the Intensive Care Unit of Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
According to the Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 11:43 p.m. Monday Hutson, driving a
1997 Ford Ranger, was stopped northbound on U.S. 23 at a traffic light at the intersection with U.S. 6.

A semi tractor-trailer, also northbound on U.S. 23 behind Hutson, and driven by Byron Wheeler, 55,
Zanesville, failed to stop and struck Hutson’s vehicle in the rear.
Hutson’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a sign before coming to rest.
Hutson was taken to the hospital by Bradner EMS.
According to the patrol, Wheeler, who was not injured, apparently fell asleep at the wheel at the time of
the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The incident remains under investigation.
