Bowling Green Schools had announced how it will schedule extended school days.
The schedule for snow day make-up will begin April 7 and end May 28.
After considering input that was received following the announcement of the 30 additional minutes to the
day, it has been determined that the 30 additional minutes will be split, beginning school 15 minutes
earlier in the morning and ending 15 minutes later in the afternoon.
This represents the most educationally beneficial use of the additional time, according to Superintendent
Ann McVey.
The morning schedule for preschool and morning kindergarten is 8:50 to 11:35 a.m.
Afternoon kindergarten will begin at 12:55 p.m. and end at 3:40 p.m.
At the elementary schools, school will begin at 8:50 a.m. and end at 3:40 p.m.
For the middle school and high school, classes will be in session from 7:35 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
All students transported by BG Schools yellow bus service will be picked up 15 minutes earlier in the
morning and will arrive home 15 minutes later in the afternoon. This includes students transported to
Penta, the Children’s Resource Center, and non-public schools.
Families with children who receive specialized transportation will be contacted directly.
Additional information regarding each building’s schedule will be provided prior to April 7.
The district to date has missed 17 days of school.
The state excuses five days, and has given districts four more as long as they made up four days.
In Bowling Green, by adding hours to 36 school days that makes up three days. Add Presidents’ Day as the
fourth make up day and the nine now allowed by the state and that brings the district to 13 excused days
meaning it has to only make up four days.
The last day of classes had originally been May 30.
