Aspacher to lead BG Council

Third Ward Council Member Michael Aspacher was elected president of Bowling Green City Council Monday
night.
Also during its reorganization, First Ward Council Member Daniel Gordon was elected president pro tem.

Democrats hold a 5-2 advantage on council. Aspacher was elected 6-0, while Gordon was elected 4-2.
Republicans Theresa Charters-Gavarone and Robert McOmber cast the no votes.
Aspacher replaces John Zanfardino, who was absent, as president. Zanfardino indicated at the final 2013
meeting he would not seek to continue as council president.
Before the meeting BG Municipal Court Judge Mark Reddin swore in Aspacher, Charters-Gavarone, Gordon,
McOmber and Sandy Rowland, to the terms they won in the November election.
At-Large member Bruce Jeffers is in the middle of his four-year term.
Monday’s meeting was rescheduled from a week ago because of the weather.
Council will meet again next Monday and has a public hearing on annexation at 6:45 p.m.
