At Clay High School, Perrysburg was fourth at the Maumee Bay Classic Invitational Tournament
and Northwood’s Brandon Kretz recorded the 100th victory of his career.Clay won the 26-team event with
203 points. Perrysburg scored 171 1/2 while Bowling Green was 21st with 45 points and Northwood was 26th
with 18 points.Perrysburg had nine placers in the tournament.The Yellow Jackets’ Rocco Caywood won the
title at 170, posted a 9-6 decision over Perry’s Ryan Still in the final.Perrysburg’s Kadin Llewellyn
(182) was second losing by pin in 4:39 to Clay’s Matt Stencel.Also for Perrysburg, Mario Guillen (113),
J.P. Newton (152) and Cale Bonner (285) were third.For Bowling Green, T.J. Jacobs (220) was fifth and
Devin Allen (285) was sixth.For Northwood, Devon Dunbar (106) was seventh and Kretz (126) was
eighth.Eastwood second at NapoleonIn Napoleon, Eastwood went 8-1 at the Napoleon Duals, losing only to
Genoa, who went 9-0.Eastwood’s Randy Caris (170) was the MVP of the tournament, going 8-0.Other top
wrestlers for the Eagles were: Kyle Patterson, 8-0; Brandon Tefft, Brad Radabaugh, Adam Wolf and Joe
Nauman, 8-1; Andrew Caris, 7-2; and Mat Drown, Mitchell Davidson and Hunter Sutton, 6-3.Eastwood beat
Napoleon, 47-24; Patrick Henry, 71-9; Evergreen, 65-9, Defiance, 48-18; Mohawk, 55-9; Gold Medal, 72-12;
Bay Village. 41-33; and Bryan, 51-21.Eastwood is now 14-2 in duals.Three county teams competein Van
Buren InvitationalIn Van Buren, three Wood County teams competed in the 35th annual Van Buren
Invitational.Wayne Trace won the 23-team event with 155 1/2 points.Elmwood was eighth with 98 points,
Otsego was 11th with 82 1/2 points and Lakota was ninth with 36 1/2 points.Finishing third for Elmwood
were: Dylan Benschoter (126), a 3-1 winner over Gaige Rassman from Delphos Jefferson; Michael Baer
(145), who posted a 7-5 sudden victory decision over Tristan Myers from Hopewell-Loudon; and Devon
Uzelac (220) who posted a 3-2 decision over Dustin McConnahea from Delphos Jefferson.Otsego’s top
finishers were Buddy Limes (120) and Trenton Soto (132) who were both second.Limes dropped a 5-0
decision to Tyler Baker from Allen East in the final. Carey’s Brayden Leist posted a 16-2 major decision
over Soto in the final.Lakota had two six-place finishers: Caleb Tolento (126) and Jordan Jaso (152).
