Prep Roundup: ‘Jackets finish second in NLL tennis (05-09-14)

Perrysburg’s boys tennis team finished second in the Northern Lakes League tournament Wednesday at
Jermain Park in Toledo.
The Yellow Jackets also were second in the NLL overall standings, which combine points earned for
dual-match wins and a team’s finish in the league tournament.
Southview was first in both.
Perrysburg’s Troy Weider won the championship at No. 1 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-4 win over Springfield’s
Cody Wurzelbacher.
The Yellow Jackets finished second at the four other positions – Nick Buhk at No. 2 singles, Justin
Weider at No. 3 singles, Mitchel Skotynsky and Austin Riffer at No. 1 doubles, and Konnor Masell and
Thomas Walbom at No. 2 doubles.
North Baltimore 9,
Liberty Center 1
In North Baltimore, Kelcie Bean notched 10 strikeouts and was 2-for-3 as the Tigers improved to 7-11,
overall.
Other top hitters for the Tigers were: Hanna Brian, 2-for-4, RBI; and Bailey Boyer, 3-for-4.
Lakota 5, Van Buren 1
In Kansas, Lakota collected 10 hits in a nonleague win.
Morgan Gangwer was 3-for-3 with an RBI and also fanned six on the mound.
Other top hitters for the Raiders were: Aubrey Bickford, single, RBI; Alaina Bickford, two singles, two
RBI; and Destiny Long-Meyer, single, RBI.
Northwood 11, Danbury 4
In Lakeside, Northwood beat Danbury for the second time in four days. Northwood is 8-8 overall and 5-3 in
the Toledo Area Athletic Conference.
Alyson Seibert picked up the win for the Rangers and fanned six in five innings .
Emily Murphy was 2-for-2 for Northwood.

In Lakeside, Jacob Zieroff pitched a no-hitter to help Northwood improve to 9-11 overall and 6-2 in the
TAAC.
Zieroff also doubled. Other top hitters for Northwood were: Mike Vallejo, 2-for-3, double, triple; and
Myles Habel, double.
