Prep Roundup: BGHS hockey falls to St. Francis (12-27-13) PDF Print E-mail

St. Francis scored four power-play goals and one short-handed goal Friday for a 7-4 win over Bowling Green in a battle of state-ranked high school hockey teams at the Ice Arena.
The teams combined for 24 penalties for 87 minutes, including four major penalties and two game-disqualification penalties.
St. Francis is ranked sixth by the coaches, while BG is ninth.
St. Francis scored three power-play goals in the final four minutes of the second period after BG closed within 3-2 on Brock Powers’ goal with 12:51 to play in the period.
St. Francis was 4-of-10 on the power play, while BG was 1-of-9.
Jeremy Chambers scored twice for BG and Adam Furnas had the other goal.
The Bobcats continue play in the Mister Spots Invitational Saturday with games against North Royalton at 10:10 a.m. and Cincinnati Moeller at 7:30 p.m.
The championship and consolation games are Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., respectively.

BOYS
Lake 98, Seneca East 42
In Millbury, Jared Rettig scored 30 points and Connor Bowen added 20 as Lake advanced to the championship game of its own tournament.
Cody Witt chipped in with 11 points and Brandyn Neal had 10 for Lake, 7-0 overall.
Ethan Caudill led SE (0-9) with 14 points.
The Flyers face Bryan, a 63-37 winner over Cardinal Stritch, in the finals Saturday night at 8.

Old Fort 80, Elmwood 57
In Jerry City, Hunter Perry’s 31 points helped Old Fort win.
Aaron Arnold had 19 points and six assists for Elmwood (0-5) and Trevor Solether had 12 points.

Gibsonburg 62, Otsego 40
In Tontogany, Andrew Cantrell and Jordan Kreglow each had 16 points as Gibsonburg improved to 4-2.
Otsego (4-3) was led by Cody Downs’ 15 points.

Maumee Valley 63,
North Baltimore 46
In North Baltimore, Maumee Valley (6-1) pulled way from a 30-30 tie at the half.
Jacob Frost had 12 points for NB (3-5), while Chad Wright had 10 rebounds.

Waite 82, Lakota 66
In Toledo, Colin Timmons scored 28 points and Josh Kilpatrick added 19 as Lakota lost in the semifinals of the Emmanuel Christian Tournament.
The Raiders (3-5) play Summerfield (Mich.) Saturday in the third-place game.

GIRLS
Lakota 50, Eastwood 48
In Kansas, Lakota took a 38-30 lead after three quarters and held on for its win.
Katie Park had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Morgan Mowry added 10 points for Lakota (2-7).
Reagan Boice paced Eastwood (0-9) with 14 points and Emily Hayward added 13.
