New home sought for Destiny

0

The Wood County Humane Society is looking for a permanent home for one of its long-term residents: a
horse by the name of Destiny.
Destiny is a six year-old Paso Fino mare with a friendly personality. According to Shelter Manager Erin
McKibben, Destiny and several other horses came to the WCHS nearly five years ago as part of a cruelty
case.
McKibben said that the horses "weren’t being cared for at all, and Destiny lacked a lot of nutrition
(because she was a baby at the time), and we originally thought she wouldn’t grow right and would have
deformities." However, he adds, Destiny has "defied the odds and developed into quite the
nice, healthy young mare she is today."
Destiny currently stands for the farrier and loves to be groomed. In 2011, she received 60 days of
training and continues to be ridden on a weekly basis. Currently, Destiny requires an experienced rider,
but with time and patience she could be suitable for riders of all skill and experience levels. Destiny
has been fostered by the Healing Barn since 2008.
Anyone interested in adopting Destiny should contact Corri from The Healing Barn at 419-836-8367.
Anyone interested in donating towards Destiny’s care until she is adopted can send a check directly to
the WCHS with "horse sponsorship" indicated on the memo line.
The Healing Barn, located in Millbury, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping equines in need.
The organization works with area Humane Societies to ensure horses, ponies, and donkeys are all properly
cared for.
