Jackson Livestock
Jackson Livestock 4-H Club held a meeting on April 6 at the Ohio State farm research building.
During the meeting, Matt and Monica Davis taught quality assurance to the members and also taught how to
read an ear notch on animals. Advisers also talked on sportsmanship and what to do when you are in the
show arena and how to show good sportsmanship. The Crawford and Wenzinger families will have recycling
today.
The next meeting will be held Sunday.
Top Shots
The Wood County Top Shots Shooting Sports Club met on April 15 at the Fraternal Order of Police Building.
A guest speaker, Paul Brooks from the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance, presented a hunting and a fishing
program.
Officers were elected with Seth Pullins chosen as president; Zach Bozigar vice president; Lucy Pullins,
secretary; Lucy Moore, treasurer, and Tyler Farrell, health and safety.
Fair booth, community service, and a new T-shirt design were discussed. After the meeting was adjourned,
the club then met in project/discipline groups.
Portage Valley
On April 13 the Portage Valley 4-H Club met at Zion Lutheran Church in Luckey. Health and Safety Officer
Mikaya Cully talked about dog safety. Members stuffed Easter baskets for kids in need. As recreation,
Ian Sander led an Easter egg hunt.
The next meeting is Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Colorful Clovers
The Colorful Clovers 4-H Club met April 8 at Bowling Green Trinity Church. The meeting was started with
games of "Captain’s on Deck" and "Simon Says."
Attendance was taken by answering the question, "What is your favorite ice cream?" The most
popular was chocolate.
Members held a fundraiser at McDonald’s on April 16.
Members discussed the community service project to be held at City Park on May 13. Members will be
running/walking a 5K race and asking for pledges before the race. Members voted to donate the money to
the hospital in order to make fun packs for children in the hospital.
Nominations were accepted for fair king and queen candidates and Liz Herzel and Michael Rochester will be
representing the club.
The Cloverbuds provided the snack they prepared during the meeting of fruit smoothies and popcorn.
The next meeting will be the 5K fundraiser on May 13 at City Park.
Blue Ribbon Rangers
Blue Ribbon Rangers 4-H Club met April 6 at Dowling Church.
Club elections saw Steven Speck chosen as president; Ashley Baden, vice president; Michaela Booth,
secretary; and Anna Szabo as the secretary assistant. The treasurer is David Krukemyer and Danielle
Roby, news reporter. Jesse Sundermeier will serve as the health officer, with Maddie Recker as safety
officer. The recreation team will be Olivia Ruffner, Ben Harbauer, Hannah Woda and Zach Sechkar. The
clean-up crew consists of Keegan Shank, Anna Harbauer, Ross Welling, Evelyn Eynon, Emma Ruffner and Emma
Buchman
The next meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Dowling Church
Green Meadows
The Green Meadows 4-H club held a meeting on Sunday at Haskins Community Church.
Members elected Trevor Buehrer as king candidate and Erin Swanson as queen candidate for the 2014 Wood
County Jr. Fair Court. The group has started discussing ideas for a fair booth theme. Members also
continued to examine different methods of fundraising.
Olivia Horen and Morgan Simon will give project demonstrations at the next meeting, which will be held at
the church on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Black Swamp Trailblazers
Only four members were absent at the last meeting of the Black Swamp Trailblazers 4-H Club.
Under old business, the club voted on shirt ideas for the year. Designs were presented and discussed and
members voted on artwork. The option of polo shirts or T-shirts is available this year, and order forms
will be placed on the Trailblazers Facebook page.
Under new business, discussion was made regarding optional dates to get help working on project books, a
club field trip for birding’s "The Biggest Week" starting in May, and plans for a fundraising
Bake Sale at Tractor Supply Co. on Ohio 25 on May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The next meeting will be May 15 at 6 p.m. at Grounds For Thought on South Main Street.
