Lucky Charms
On Jan. 12, the Lucky Charms 4-H Club convened for officer elections. Dana Kleman was elected president;
Meredith Schultz, vice president/treasurer; Keira Miller secretary/news reporter; Analisa Bihary, health
and safety officer; and Duncan Schultz and Avalyn Bihary, recreation officers.
4-H Advisors Amy Hoops and Nada Miller led the club in activities to learn about healthy snacks. Members
learned about the five food groups, and categorized their favorite snacks as a fruit, vegetable, grain,
protein, dairy, or junk food. For recreation, members played "Button, Button, Who Has the
Button," and "Snack Tag," a variation of Freeze Tag, in which members had to shout a
healthy snack to avoid being frozen.
January is National Thank-you Month; to celebrate, members signed thank-you cards the Wood County
Commissioners, Senator Gardner, Representative Brown, and Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, where they meet.
The Lucky Charms realizes that 4-H would not be possible without their support. They would also like to
extend their thanks to all 4-H advisors.
The Lucky Charms will have officer installations at their next meeting, which will be Sunday at the
church.
Black Swamp Trailblazers
The Black Swamp Trailblazers met Sunday to kick off the year. Members discussed officer election dates,
started enrollment forms, talked about shirts for 2014 and future fundraisers. The next scheduled
meeting is Feb. 6 to receive project books. The meeting was run by vice president Rachel Piasecki and
advisor Penny Parker.
