BG students in concert tonight
The Bowling Green High School Orchestra, Middle School Orchestras and Beginner Orchestra will present
their final concerts of the 2013-14 concert season with two events. The first will be on Thursday
tonight featuring the grades 5-7 and the second concert will be on May 15 featuring the 8th Grade
Orchestra, High School Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.
The program tonight will open with the beginner orchestra which students from Conneaut, Crim and Kenwood
Elementary Schools to form a 90 piece string orchestra. The 7th grade bobcat orchestra will conclude the
program with the popular classic Overture to William Tell by Rossini.
The May 15 program will showcase the older orchestra students. The 8th Grade will perform "Dust in
the Wind" featuring Ryland Black and Elaine Hudson on guitar. The High School Orchestra and 8th
Grade Orchestra will combine to perform selections from Disney’s "The Lion King" and
"Frozen." The BGHS String Orchestra will also perform Tchaikovsky’s "1812 Overture"
complete with simulated cannon fire and church bells. The night concludes with the Symphony Orchestra
performing selections from the Broadway musical "Les Miserables." Both concerts begin at 7:00
p.m. in the Performing Arts Center and are free and open to the public.
Anti-teen drinking is topic of Otsego community event
TONTOGANY – On Friday at 1 p.m., the Otsego community will welcome Drs. Brian and Cindy Hoeflinger to
speak in the high school auditorium to the high school students about anti-teen drinking.
With prom season around the corner, on Saturday for Otsego High School, administrators encourage everyone
who is able to attend to come. Everyone is welcome and the event is open to the public
Elmwood band earns ‘Superior’ rating at OMEA contest
On May 3, the Elmwood High School Concert Band earned its first ever rating of "I- Superior" in
school history at the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Contest which was held at Findlay
High School.
The band had qualified for OMEA state contest most recently in 2010 and 1988 prior to then. This is the
first time in the history of Elmwood Local Schools that a high band has earned the top rating possible
at OMEA State Contest.
Caddyshack Classic golf outing is May 17
PERRYSBURG – The sixth-annual Caddyshack Classic golf outing by Perrysburg’s Frank Elementary will begin
at 8 a.m. May 17 at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
This event is the largest fundraiser for the Frank Parents Club. This year, 25 percent of proceeds will
be donated to the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio. The event is open to the public.
The format will be a four-person scramble. Registration starts at 7 a.m. Cost is $75 per person or $280
per team. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and other raffle items. Holes may be sponsored for $125.
Lunch will be catered by Gradkowski’s and Social and will begin around 1:30 p.m.
