PERRYSBURG – St. Rose School successfully defended its first place title in the K-5 Non-rated Section of
the 2014 Ohio Girls Chess Championships April 12. Approximately 50 girls competed at the K-12 event
representing 20 elementary, junior highs and high schools.
The event was held at St. Rose School in Perrysburg.
Winning for St. Rose were Claire and Katie Hoyt, Megan Walters along with Addison and Jada Wilhelm. The
team of five girls never trailed in the event and won outscoring their closest opponents 13 to 6.5
points.
Leading the team were Jada and Kate who combined for 7.5 points and winning first and fifth place
respectively, while Addison finished in seventh place.
Bowling Green Christian Academy’s Jenna Magrum from Portage also competed in the K-5 Non-rated Section.
