BGHS DECA sends 7 to international event

This month, seven BGHS DECA members competed at DECA’s 68th International Career Development Conference
in Atlanta.
The conference spotlights DECA’s top student performers from all 50 United States, Canada, China, Guam,
Puerto Rico and Spain.
It also highlights innovative business partnerships that empower these emerging business leaders and
future entrepreneurs to tackle the challenges of an ever-evolving and persistently difficult economic
landscape.
Fifteen senior DECA members earned spots to compete at the state level in DECA’s Career Development
Conference this past March.
Of these students, nine were recognized for placing in the top five or higher at the state level
including:
• Andrew Fisher and Nathan Sell: first place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision Making
Event (moving on to compete in Atlanta)
• Reagan Morman and Hanna Williford: fourth place in Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making Event
(moving on to compete in Atlanta)
• Camden Carsey, David Fouts and Connor Rose: fifth place in Sports and Entertainment Promotion Plan
(moving on to compete in Atlanta)

Bronwen Espen: fifth place in Entrepreneurship Franchise Participating Event

Thayer Daniels: fifth place in Marketing Management Individual Series Event
In Georgia, Carsey, Rose and Fouts were recognized with silver medals for placing Top 10 in their
presentation of their promotional plan.
Fisher was recognized as a Top 10 qualifier internationally in DECA’s Sports and Entertainment Marketing
Career Cluster Exam.
DECA is an association of marketing students who take part in the organization’s competitive events
program, allowing them to compete for local and regional titles. The competitions are designed to
simulate real-life business scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skills development.
The top state winners will now put their talents to the test during the program’s final round of
competition in Atlanta.
