Paskvan to open Portage Holiness Camp meeting

PORTAGE – On Aug. 6, Portage Holiness Camp will be opening the 136th annual camp meeting with a concert
gospel sing led by Abby Paskvan. The concert will be staged at 7 p.m. at the camp, located east of the
village. The public is invited and a free will offering will be taken.
Paskvan is an 18-year old teen with what some have described as an extraordinary gift. She has been
entertaining to provide hope and sharing God’s message through song. A Southern Gospel recording artist
with Chapel Valley Recording Studios, Paskvan is a student at Bowling Green High School. She started
singing at age 2 and gave her first church performance at age 5.
She quickly became a fan favorite and a regular National Anthem singer at larger venues such as Bowling
Green State University athletic games, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, the National Tractor Pull
event, Mud Hens baseball games, Walleye hockey games and many local fairs and charities. In addition to
performances across Northwest Ohio, her music ministry is growing significantly as she sings at churches
and gospel concerts throughout the United States. She finds peace in her work and incredible joy as
others share how her songs have touched them and helped them through trying times.
Paskvan has released three CDs including her latest from 2013, entitled, "Travelin’ Back."
The camp meeting will run from Aug. 7-17 with services for the public at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. They
are led by Revs. Doug Carter, Stephen Manley, George Holley, and Larry Leckrone.
At the same time there are youth services and sporting activities for ages 12-18 led by director Rev.
Brad Buhro. Overnight facilities are available with reservations.
The camp is located one mile east of Portage, on Portage Road.
