PEMBERVILLE – The auxiliary met Nov. 6.Kay Brueggemeier introduced Linda Dunmeyer and Peg Hebler,
of the "Quilting Eagles" quilting club. It has a membership of 25 retired employees of the
Eastwood Schools with five on the waiting list. These women started making quilts for Eastwood children and
now make quilts for "Quilts for Valor". These quilts are sent to Germany for soldiers coming back
from Iran, Iran and other places who are hospitalized in Germany, many wounded or suffering from PTSD. One
quilts costs $200-$250, funded through the club members and donations from the public. To donate cash, send
checks to "Quilts for Valor" 1260 Lemoyne Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. The quilts are made of 100
percent cotton which is hard to find, and there are other stipulations to be met before the quilt can be
sent overseas.The auxiliary voted to give the Quilting Eagles a $500 donation to help with postage and
material.President Gwen Schroeder-Zulch opened the meeting. Send auxiliary dues to Carolyn Borcherding,
Reese Road, Pemberville. To date, 90 dues are in, membership is at 181, and goal is 220.The auxiliary
Christmas party is Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Higher Ground Coffee Shop in Pemberville. The cost is $8 per
person. Members plan a gift exchange of a $10 gift card to your favorite place. Call Brueggemeier at
419-287-3347 for reservations.The unit will give $75 to "Shoe Box for Battered Women and
Children," a junior member project, and $100 to the Toledo VA Clinic for gift cards for veterans’
Christmas party.
