A dinner at Panera preceded the Nov. 5 meeting.
Worthy Matron Denise Zephier opened with theme information on the Wiping of the Tears, a ceremony performed one year after a loved one's death.  It provide prayers to nourish the mourners spiritually, spiritual food for physical nourishment, words and hugs of comfort. The chanupa is ceremonially smoked and tears are ceremonially wiped away. A meal is then shared and a give-away is done.
Zephier offered Lakota proverbs.
