Northwestern Water and Sewer District has been recognized by the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio for
accumulating 587,618 hours without a lost-time injury. It was recognized at the safety council’s recent
Industrial Awards Banquet.
"This is great recognition for our organization, our safety efforts, our employees and their
families," said NWSD President Jerry Greiner. "For many years our field supervisors, Dan
Wickard and Simon Gundy, have chaired our Safety Committee, leading them with training and building
awareness of the risks of this profession.
"Of the 32 potential hazards identified by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, our field
employees come in contact with 25 of them on a daily basis," said Gundy, assistant superintendent
and safety manager.
"Accumulating this many hours with approximately 40 field employees is the equivalent of more than
six years without a lost-time injury. This is a reflection of our workers’ training and dedication to
safety."
