Three area schools had players honored by the Northwest Hockey Conference in the all-league awards announced on Saturday.

COLUMBUS — Two area athletes were selected as all-Ohioans in the all-state Division I and II team announced by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association on Tuesday.

NORWALK — Notre Dame Academy made a big-time rally in the fourth quarter scoring 23 points to defeat Perrysburg, 50-43 in a Division I regional final game Satureday night at Norwalk High School.

NORWALK — Eastwood’s fourth quarter rally fell short Thursday evening against Colonel Crawford in a Division III district final at Norwalk High School.

MILLBURY — Rossford head coach Brian Vorst called for a timeout less than a minute into Wednesday’s Division II district semifinal.

NORWALK — Missed free throws almost cost Eastwood a Division III district semifinal victory Tuesday at Norwalk High School.

ADA — Lake entered Tuesday’s Division III regional semifinal riding a five-game winning streak with its last lost nearly a month prior.

Rossford won the Northern Buckeye Conference championship and led the conference in the all-league selections announced last week.

Otsego won the Northern Buckeye Conference title during the regular season led all league schools with multiple first-team selections in the all-NBC selections announced last week.

TOLEDO — A strong defensive third quarter by Northview held Perrysburg to only six points in the period, making all the difference as the Wildcats survived 46-39 to win the sectional final at Toledo Start High School on Friday.

WHITEHOUSE — As expected, it was a nail-biter in a Division III girls district semifinal between Otsego and Lake at Anthony Wayne Thursday.

MILLBURY — Clinging to a one-point lead, Perrysburg ended the first half with 11 unanswered points and used tenacious rebounding to storm past Toledo Whitmer 44-31 in Thursday’s Division I district semifinal at Lake High School.

WHITEHOUSE — At one point in the third quarter Thursday night, Elmwood trailed Montpelier 34-22 and it looked like the season would be over for the Royal girls in a Division III district semifinal at Anthony Wayne.

HOLLAND — Sparked by a very good first half from Evan Harves and some accurate free throw shooting, Otsego knocked off Van Buren 59-41 Tuesday night at Springfield High School in a Division III sectional semifinal.

Pre-sale tickets for the Otsego-Lake district girls basketball game at 8 p.m. Thursday night at Anthony Wayne High School are on sale in the Otsego Junior High office from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Thursday.

PERRYSBURG — When Anna Tunnicliffe Tobias was a youngster in England her parents introduced her to sailing, although she was not very happy going out on the water.

CANTON — Bowling Green senior C.J. Layne finished in the top eight of two different events at the Division II state swimming meet in Canton at the C.T. Branin Natatorium on Friday.

Lake entered Tuesday’s Division III tournament opener against the district’s top seed with more losses than wins this season.

ROSSFORD — Woodmore’s offense was too much for a talented Rossford team as the Wildcats routed the Bulldogs 63-46 Friday night in Northern Buckeye Conference play.
