ELIDA — Eastwood baseball’s Lake Boos threw shutout ball for the Eagles Thursday in their 3-0 victory over Allen East in district semifinals.
The Eagles are now 25-3 on the season and will play in district finals on Saturday.
The Eagles got out to a great start, as Case Boos doubled to lead off the inning and was sacrificed via a bunt from his brother Lake. Case came home later on a passed ball to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead after one inning.
Neither team scored again until the bottom of the fourth inning as Allen East’s Jordan Motter and Lake Boos each threw well throughout the entirety of the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles struck with a single from Jared Bonfiglio and back-to-back singles from Caleb Recker and Isaac Cherry that extended their lead to 3-0 after four innings.
Neither team scored again and the Eagles walked away with a victory.
Lake Boos went seven innings on the mound, giving up no runs on three hits, 11 strikeouts and a walk. For Allen East, Motter went six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits, eight strikeouts and a walk.
At the plate the Eagles were led by Cherry who was the only player with a multi-hit game. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Recker went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Eagles, who are the No. 2 seed, will now move on to play the No. 6 seed Minster in district finals at Elida High School on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
