To the Editor:
Disgusted with Oath Keepers at Woodland Mall. I took my 4-year-old son to the mall for the arcade and a movie with his father. Upon leaving the theater Oath Keepers "security" stopped us and said they needed to radio for approval for us to walk from the theater to the main entrance. When my child's father stated that we were leaving and did not require anyone's permission to do so, we were followed across the food court by "security" the entire time, and he was giving our descriptions over his radio.
This was insulting, unnecessary, and was absolutely harassment. Not only were these so-called Oath Keepers harassing us, they frightened my special needs son. This is completely unacceptable. For an organized group of people who claim to want to defend against infringement of their rights, they certainly had no qualms violating mine.
If this organization or business wants to hold events, fine. However, when doing so in an open public building, do not harass and stalk families who are there to enjoy family time.
I do not appreciate, nor will I ever tolerate being followed by so-called "security" because I am not there for their event nor would I pay the $10 for the privilege to walk through the mall. I believe that the mall and the Oath Keepers owe me and my family an apology.
Further, I would recommend holding such future events in a closed venue.
I am extremely upset at how we were treated and that my son was frightened. Absolutely unacceptable and I hope the others members of the general public that were treated this way come forward as well.
