PERRYSBURG — With the 50th anniversary of man’s first walk on the moon, Perrysburg’s hotshot award-winning historian Douglas Brinkley was in town speaking about his newest book, “American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race.”

Apollo 11 took off July 16, 1969. The televised landing on the moon is reported by NASA to have been watched by an estimated 650 million people who heard Commander Neil Armstrong say “…one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind” on July 20, 1969.
