Law enforcement officers continue to search for the occupant or occupants of an overturned abandoned vehicle in a ditch on Poe Road.
The vehicle, a red Oldsmobile Intrigue, was found at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday on Poe just each of Range Line Road, upside down in a water-filled ditch. It is unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle.
Chief Deputy Eric Reynolds, with the Wood County Sheriff's Office, said deputies and auxiliary members search the ditch bank in the area and drones have been dispatched to search the area.
“We’ve not located anybody at this time,” he said Wednesday afternoon.
He asks that homeowners in the area check unlocked outbuildings to make sure no one wandered in to get out of the cold. He added that deputies have searched door-to-door the properties surrounding the crash site.
Police know whom the vehicle is registered to, and have contacted family members.
“We’re treating it as if it’s our loved ones and it is a priority for us,” Reynolds said.
