Perrysburg Twp. police critical of enforcement policy

LIME CITY — Perrysburg Township police officers sounded off on the sheriff Wednesday, saying he’s helped to undermine one of the best ways of fighting heroin and opioids in Ohio.

“It’s really a huge deal,” Lt. Matt Gazarek said after a meeting Wednesday, when Perrysburg Township Trustee Gary Britten brought up the issue of policing authority on interstate highways. “It is huge, especially when you think about what’s going on today. We have apparently what some people still don’t believe is a drug problem. We have a drug problem in Wood County. Not only in Wood County, but in Perrysburg and Perrysburg Township and Rossford and Northwood.”
