PERRYSBURG — The evolution of the common soldier through history is on display at Fort Meigs Historic Site in Perrysburg this Father’s Day weekend. The annual Muster on the Maumee features soldiers from the Roman legions, Anthony Wayne’s army, the Civil War, World War II, and more. The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors can train in the art of late-medieval hand-to-hand combat at the “Pike College,” and see WWII soldiers preparing for D-Day at the obstacle course. The event includes demonstrations of artillery and small arms, equipment displays, and historically authentic entertainment by variety groups Common Stock and Faire Wynds, magician Rodney the Younger, and musical performances of the early 1800’s by Fiddlesix.
