It will be business as usual for Middleton Township fire personnel, as a 15-year, 3-mill additional tax levy was defeated at the ballot box.

The levy, which would have cost the owner of a $100,000 home $105 annually, was needed to pay for the note that would have been required for a $6 million new fire station. The planned station was to have been built on land the township owned, directly south of its administration building on Dixie Highway.
