Getting rid of big audit costs for small entities

A new $10 million local government audit support fund was approved in the state budget passed last week, allowing for a new method of charging for small government audits.

“We’re trying to keep the rates low for local governments. We’re trying to do this cheaper,” said Keith Faber, state auditor in a visit to the Sentinel-Tribune. “I chose not to raise the rates, because the legislature created this $10 million local government audit systems fund.”
