After a space of nearly 34 years, and following two trials, an emotional Russell Adkins wept in court Monday as he was sentenced to 15 years to life for the murder of Dana Rosendale.

Adkins, 57, Whitehouse, appeared in the courtroom of Wood County Judge Reeve Kelsey. He entered the courtroom in orange county-issued jail garments, and was shackled at the wrists, waist and feet.

Adkins was convicted early Saturday morning by a jury after they reportedly deliberated for five hours between 8:30 p.m. Friday night and 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The verdict came after a five-day trial that at times saw experts deliver hours-long testimonies on both sides, with jurors carrying on into the evening hours at least twice.
