Bowling Green State University will open the doors of one of its new dining centers to the community
Tuesday.
A ribbon-cutting event will be at 10 a.m. in front of the Oaks dining center, at the corner of Ridge
Street and Thurstin Avenue. BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey along, with representatives from Chartwells
Higher Education Dining Services and Chartwells’ design and build team, will be there.
The community is invited to tour the Oaks and sample menu items. BGSU Dining chefs will be available to
speak with guests.
BGSU has also opened a second dining facility. Carillon Place and the Oaks are home to Chartwells’
award-winning "Pulse on Dining" residential dining brand. The Oaks also features a Dunkin’
Donuts franchise, while one of the first Pinkberry frozen yogurt locations in the Midwest will open in
Carillon Place next month.
Both buildings were built with the environment in mind. The Oaks will be Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design certified. Among its "green" features are solar energy panels, a water
reclamation system and a rooftop garden.
Carillon Place was also built with recycled materials, is energy efficient and will utilize water
conservation methods as well as an alternative-energy delivery vehicle.
