Families are invited to meet picture book author Ana Crespo in the Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Crespo will read her debut picture book, “The Sock Thief,” the story of a Brazilian boy named Filipe who doesn’t own a soccer ball, but with a bit of creativity and a few borrowed socks makes one. Crespo, originally from Brazil, lived and studied in Bowling Green. She now lives with her family in Colorado. he will be selling and signing her books at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St., following the library reading.
As Crespo shares her “Sock Thief” story, the Children’s Place staff will also highlight other soccer stories from around the world. They will also highlight “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program displays at the world map with portraits of children from countries across the globe making a difference as well as the children’s biographies collection featuring historical heroes including Brazilian soccer star, Pele.
