Tech troubles? Solve them at the library

My job here at the Wood County District Public Library is highly creative: I make graphics, I write press releases, I design flyers and create banners. On the rare occasion, it becomes more technical, like coding aspects of the website or managing an analytics merge.

On these occasions, I’ll fully admit that I need help. Thankfully, we have some excellent technology programs and ask-the-expert sessions that even I, as a member of staff, find incredibly helpful and am grateful for. If you’re like me and need some tech help, browse some of the library’s current and upcoming technology-based programming.

For beginners, we have our Computer Basics courses on Fridays at 11 a.m. These courses span a length of seven weeks and a variety of topics, including Windows 11, Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and much more. Perfect for beginners, all of the equipment you’ll need to learn is provided. Additionally, for those interested in learning more about how to keep themselves safe online, we have a Cyber Security course on June 30 at 11 a.m.

For those with a wider knowledge base, we also have a few upcoming Computer Intermediate courses. On July 28 at 11 a.m., learn more about 3D printing and how to use the library’s 3D printer to design and create projects. If you’d like to learn more about how to use tools, formulas, and the setup of Microsoft Excel, we also have an Excel with Excel course on Aug. 25 at 11 a.m.

Our Bookmobile also hosts tech sessions with the Connectivity Champions throughout the summer at a number of our stops around Wood County. If you’re looking for tech help around Wood County, or if you’re interested in learning more about affordable internet, visit one of our Connectivity Champions Bookmobile stops. You can find out more information about these stops and when the Connectivity Champions will be at a stop near you on our website at wcdpl.org/bookmobile.

Of course, if you’re like me and need tech help based on whatever problem you’re currently encountering, we always have Technology Thursdays every Thursday from 2-4 p.m. These one-on-one appointments are great for getting answers personalized to your needs, and finding help for those questions you have about your phone, tablet, or computer.

Whatever technology woes you find yourself in, you can get help at your library. For more information on these and upcoming programs, and to register, visit the website at wcdpl.org/events.
