A woman was taken by air ambulance to a Toledo hospital after a head-on crash last week.

On Monday around 8:40 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an injury crash on Scotch Ridge Road near Chamberlain Road involving two vehicles.

Once on the scene, the deputy located a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck off the right side of the roadway. The truck was against a 2016 Ford Focus that was on its passenger side with the driver trapped inside.

Javier Vasquez, 58, Pemberville, who was standing outside his truck, told the deputy he was OK.

EMS extracted Deborah Neal, 41, of Alger, by mechanical means and she was transported by air ambulance to Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with suspected serious injury.

Vasquez told the deputy he was westbound on Scotch Ridge Road when the Ford suddenly crossed the center line and entered his lane of travel. The two vehicles hit head on, causing the Ford to flip onto its passenger side, according to the accident report.

Alger, who was driving a Department of Administrative Services vehicle, will be cited for marked lanes when she is released from the hospital, according to the report.
