Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Fred Chmiel has announced the addition of Taya Ellis to the Falcon family. Ellis will join the Falcons for the 2023-24 academic year.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Taya Ellis to BGSU,” Chmiel said. “She will make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor. Taya has great size and athleticism. She also has an ability to stretch the floor, attack the basket, rebound and block shots.

“Taya will be a great asset to our team and community, both on and off the court.”

Ellis, who hails from Toronto, Ontario, attended Crown Royal Academic School, where she played for three years. A 6-1 forward, she also has played for Kia Nurse Elite AAU.

Ellis missed much of the 2021-22 season at Crown Royal due to an injury, but averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks per game for Kia Nurse Elite this past season.

She plans to major in social work at BGSU.
