Donald Michael Eckel, 74, of Pemberville, Ohio passed away March 17, 2023.
He was born February 7, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Donald A. Eckel and Jean (Coger) Bookenberger. He married Harriet Brooks on November 12, 1976 and she survives in Pemberville.
Don served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Quality Engineer for Whirlpool in Clyde, Ohio. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bowling Green. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family – especially his grandchildren whom he adored.
Along with his wife of 46 years, Harriet, Don is survived by his sons Ray (Melissa) Donald of Wayne, Ohio and Travis (Debbie) Donald of Bartlett, Tennessee, grandchildren Noah, Allison (Justice), Isaac, Seth, Nicholas, Alexander, Tyler and Jonah, great-grandchildren Collyn and Stevie and siblings Tom (Sue) Weber, Jim (Yvonne) Eckel, Sherrie Burkhardt, Melanie (Tom) Schutte, Jon (Lisa) Eckel, and Jennifer Eckel as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald A. Eckel and Jean Bookenberger, stepfather Dale Bookenberger and brother Ronald Weber.
Don’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. Bishop Jonathan Kershaw will officiate. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery where full Military honors will be rendered by the Wood County Honor Detail.
Visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
