FINDLAY — A man accused of robbing a Delta bank, and robbing or attempting to rob four others in Northwest Ohio has been apprehended by authorities.

The FBI Northwest Ohio Safe Streets Task Force, along with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Findlay Police Department, announced the Feb. 24 arrest on Tuesday.

Gage Daniel Shafer Haws was taken into custody.

Haws was arrested without incident by the Findlay Police Department SWAT team at a Findlay residence in connection to the five area bank robberies, according to information from the FBI’s Cleveland office.

“Ensuring the public is safe and free from perpetrators who seek to keep the community and businesses on edge through their criminal actions are one of the FBI’s highest priorities,” said Gregory Nelsen, Cleveland FBI Special Agent in Charge. “The strength of our partnerships among federal, state and local agencies is reflected in their swift action and careful work to identify and capture the subject.”

The criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio accused Haws of the following bank robbery incidents:

– Premier Bank, Arlington Ohio, Dec. 31.

– Old Fort Bank, Bettsville, Ohio, Feb. 2.

– The attempted robbery of First National Bank of Sycamore, McCutchenville, Ohio, Feb. 10.

– Union Bank Co., Kalida, Ohio, Feb. 11.

– State Bank and Trust Company, Delta, Feb. 16.

The arrest comes after a lengthy joint investigation involving multiple agencies, including the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Findlay Police Department, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Kalida Police Department, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
